BE PART OF THE “CIRCLE OF NATURE” AT CENTER POINT MUSEUM SEPTEMBER 15

The Center Point Historical Society is hosting an in-person “chat room” about Nature on Sunday, September 15, at 2:00 p.m. at the Depot Museum.Come share your nature stories—animal, vegetable, or mineral—in a very informal discussion group. Photos and other items for adult “show and tell” are welcome.The Historical Society theme this year is Natural History and the Museum is crawling with bug and butterfly collections, as well as arrowhead, rock, fossil and conservation displays.

Historic Preservation Commission Flea Market at Celebration Park September 28

The Benton County Historic Preservation Commission will host a Flea Market on Saturday, September 28 at the Celebration Park from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It will feature every facet of a traditional flea market including antiques and uniques, direct sales and marketing and local community groups and foundations. As an added bonus, Antonio’s, a local food truck, will also be at the park, serving lunch from 11:00 a.

Fraud Prevention Program Tuesday, September 24, 10:00 a.m.

Protecting savings and assets becomes increasingly important as people age, and unfortunately, older adults can be attractive targets for fraudsters.To help protect local citizens from fraud, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host “Stay Independent: Spot, Stop and Avoid Fraud,” on Tuesday, September 24 at 10AM at Vinton Public Library, 510 2nd Ave in Vinton, IA.

Vinton-Shellsburg Class of 1994 Reunion September 14

The Vinton-Shellsburg Class of 1994 will be having a class reunion on Saturday, September 14th from 5:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.There will be a Hog Roast and Live Band. Cedar Mt. Auburn Community Club Hog Roast & Street Dance September 14

The Cedar Mt Auburn Community Club will hold a Hog Roast and Street Dance fundraiser on Saturday, September 14 in front of the Old Legion. Dinner will be from 5-7:00 p.m.Dance from 6-10:00 p.m. with music by PlugNickel. A free will donation will be accepted.Funds will be used for building improvements at Cedar Hall. Bring your own relaxing beverages and lawn chairs.

Introduction to Quilting Saturday, September 21st, 9am-12pm

Join us for an introduction to the tools needed for beginning quilting. Community quilters will be on hand sharing the tricks of the trade.This event is part of our library's new Community Quilt Project. We'll meet every Monday in September and October, beginning September 9th, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Celebrarion Park in the Gazebo. Everyone is welcome. September 14 Community Book Club discussion will be 'The Soloist' by Steve Lopez
